How do you make a living as an artist? For Carla Brauer, it took rethinking her first business and discovering big skull money. The then-vegan quit her desk job in San Francisco to travel the country and learn how to live off the land. She was fascinated by growing her own food and wanted to raise animals, so she rented farmland and got to work. But turns out, her dream job couldn’t pay the bills, so she took up a side hustle cleaning animal skulls. Given her skilled artistry, business was soon booming! Skulls don’t come around every day though, so Carla came up with a genius way to serve her customers during slow seasons.
