Alex Bernstein never played basketball in his life, but that didn’t stop him from making a massive career change into an NBA 2K pro gamer. After college, Alex became a financial advisor to help people learn how to protect their finances and, in turn, protect their family – just like his family’s financial advisor protected them after his father passed. Then he found an unexpected calling: the NBA 2K League, where he now plays center for Philadelphia’s 76ers Gaming Club after being drafted out of a whopping 76,000 contenders.
Alex made his dream of playing video games professionally a reality, and his background makes him the perfect person to explain how the gaming and personal finance industries could merge. The best advice he ever got was to “always be able to know when to invest in yourself,” and here he shares his insights into building a personal brand and what it was like to build a clientele when he was fresh out of college.
